Fire truck open for inspection

 Looks pretty complicated to me
 Uh-huh
 I know he's in there
Now where did he get to?

Sunday was a beach day

 Westmeadow Beach
When the water is low you can wade out really far.
 Colorful

Three lifeguards for a well-populated beach
 Camping out

 The tide was just turning
This wise guy is four months out of the egg
 Good place to walk too
Sometimes it's hard to find a parking spot.

Nice car

And the big one is kind of nice, too.
My car made a new friend
One thing about going to the post office
You never know what you're going to see there.

Little church in Southampton

At the end of Gin Lane in Southampton stands an exquisite small Episcopal Church, St Andrew's Dune Church. It's quite near the ocean. If you drive along Gin Lane it turns into Meadow Lane. Let's see, isn't this where a fundraiser was held over the weekend for some politician or other? Nobody around yesterday. This too shall pass away.

The Bounty

Port Jefferson played host to a Tall Ship the other day, "The Bounty". No mutineers in sight, though. This egret was interested only in the small fish the harbor was teeming with.To see the ship with sails unfurled click here.

Yes, we have wilderness

Hiking in Setauket Woods, June 17, 2012
Hundreds of acres undeveloped, thank goodness
So if you need to get away from it all ...

This area is just south of the old tanks
The trail seems to go on forever

Water Hemlock in Melville Park

A highly toxic plant is flourishing beside the path that goes around Melville Pond, and within reach of any child or adult. Amazing! The striped stem is typical. This plant should be removed post haste!

Note: There is a chance that this is Water Parsnip (not poisonous), but better safe than sorry.
