That was quite a storm we had on Saturday. You can see how at high tide the water crossed the road and reached far up onto people's lawns. This is the corner of Bayview Avenue and Shore Road.

By Sunday afternoon some people had already gotten busy and pushed their straw gift back over to the other side of the road.
I'm glad no big trees came down. Shore Road is my favorite walking place.

That looks like a great place to take a walk. Is that straw from the ocean as sea grass? Does the town come pick it up?
Hi - just popped over to leave a note - hope that your home survived the storm OK. From the various reports that I saw, it was rather like the strong tropical storms that we get down here - only it wasn't called a tropical storm ....
Did you lose your power or have any damage from falling limbs?
Hi K and B-- It was very very windy but we didn't lose power. I had a flashlight next to be as I watched TV. Other communities, esp in Nassau County (closer to the city) did lose power. Suffolk County has been very busy trimming trees the past year so that wires are not brought down by branches in a storm and it paid off.
I went out Sat about noon to do errands but was back home by the time it got really bad. Drizzled most of Sunday and today. With the time change it was amazing the number of people who managed to straggle in to church. The straw is salt marsh hay(spartina) and it floats around every winter. I don't know if the town will pick it up. This is Setauket Harbor that leads out into Long Island Sound,not the ocean. The ocean is on the south shore of Long Island. That is not the place to be in a "hurricane-like event" as I heard it described.

the storm was pretty scary. I'm glad you didn't lose any trees by you. that's always sad.
