I was surprised to see so many different hues of red maple leaves within a couple of blocks. The yellow ones are Norway maple.

Ahh Norway Maples! Did they come from Norway? My dad's favorite Christmas Tree was Norwegian spruce. His father planted a bunch and we used to have them every year in our house

Norwy maples are invasive and banned in some states (MA, New Hampshire). "Unfortunately, despite its good looks and urban hardiness, it releases chemicals to discourage undergrowth which tends to create bare, muddy run-off conditions immediately under the tree. A. platanoides has been shown to inhibit the growth of native saplings as a canopy tree or as a sapling." (Wiki article)
