I surfaced at ...

While driving around the other day I discovered New Suffolk,
a little boating enclave on the south shore of the North Fork.
The water is the Great Peconic Bay that lies between
the North and South Forks of Long Island
It turned out to be a place of historic interest
though barren of human activity in late February
One staghorn sumac soldier stands on guard duty.

Must be very busy in the summer? How far of a drive is that for you? I wish I lived closer to something like that. RI is a 2 hour drive, CT shore is about an hour

We have so many beaches and harbors on LI, so I'm only a few minutes away from one boddy of water or another. New Suffolk is about 45 minutes away.
I wish I lived closer to some mountains! Or even little hills!
