They came to honor a fallen brother fireman
On November 28th the funeral of Joseph DiBernardo, Jr. brought hundreds of firefighters to our area to honor this young man. Nichols Road was decorated with fire equipment and seven huge American flags. Times Herald article
I was in Central Islip after 9/11 to visit Ray's son at college and they were having a funeral like this, it really touched me how all the fireman come together to honor a fallen comrade

It was very moving, all those uniformed men, silent, at attention.
