Back to the Duck Pond to look for the Snow Goose

 Domestic ducks, probably abandoned when young

 The Merganser is still around, but not the Snow Goose



Can't understand why this lone duckling was left there on the bank in the midst of all the Canada Geese, other birds, and humans, where it could be stepped on.That's the mother Mallard at top left. Maybe she was ill. When I got close to take a picture of it a Canada Goose walked over and hissed at me. It was a little after 12 noon. Many of the birds were snoozing.

someone dumped off domesticated ducks? How sad........

Yes, they do that. But the barnyard ducks thrive here, can't feel sorry for them, and sometimes they interbreed with mallards -- that family I posted last year is an example.
