Found myself out on the North Fork yesterday, in Greenport. What to my wondering eyes did I see among all the touristy places but an old-fashioned used book shop! Yes, Virginia, such a thing still does exist.It's called The Book Scout and it's at 126 Main Street, Greenport. This is the owner, Peter Stevens. He claims he hasn't ridden the olde bicycles that adorn his wall and window. Yet. He has been here for 28 years.
Next time you're in Greenport do stop in and buy a book from Mr. Stevens. We have to support this kind of endeavor so that used book stores do not become extinct.
