Road project

The northbound lanes of Nicholls Road underwent resurfacing in July, a big project on a heavily travelled highway (ARRA funds?) but well organised, and now the road is oh-so-smooth and looks great. I kept meaning to take more pix of the work in progress, but ...

modesty forbids. I do think the guys deserve a lot of praise.

Ugh for the last month they were re-doing our main road out of town, I was late for work Every day because of it, but they are done and oh how nice and smooth the ride is now!

For many years (between 1990 and 2002 - before I moved here to Possum Hollow) I travelled back-n-forth on Route 10 between Houston and here. There was always major backups - sometimes east-bound, sometimes west-bound - where there was work going on to repave the highway. I always had to keep turning the car off so that it didn't overheat ....

The highway eventually was really improved - except for a stretch across Louisiana - so ultimately it was worth all the hassle - even though I don't travel that route anymore ....
