What is that shape there in the woods looking like an abandoned old car? Why, it's Patriots Rock. During the Revolution, the rock was used by the rebels to mount a 6 pound brass cannon for the Battle of Setauket in 1777. A plaque provides information. In those days this was open space not woods.Patriots Rock

sort of like the Mayan ruins that have been taken over by the jungle ... was there at least a path to the rock?
The rock is on private property. I stood on the sidewalk to take the picture.
