Meet me at the post office

As I parked at the PO this morning a swan came strolling over. He (or she) sat down beside my car for a minute then got up and went strolling toward some other people.

who looked at him warily.

and decided not to get too close.

Then he sat himself down smack dab in front of the PO (Maybe he was an upcoming event)

got real comfortable with one leg curled over his back

and seemed to be examining everyone who went in and out of the post office.

Just what was on this bird's mind?
(They say animals do strange things just before an earthquake....)

That's simply amazing! Where did he come from?

There are a couple of swans at the duck pond a little down the road. He also may have come from the harbor. Either way he'd have to cross the road, unless he flew across. Maybe he lost his mate. Seemed like strange behavior. Several people beside me were taking pictures.

That is strange indeed. I heard about a swan somewhere that lost his/her mate, very sad, they mate for life, it very well could have happened to your swan, did you stick around to see where it went?

What funny pictures. He is a fine fellow and very friendly. I suspect he is used to being fed by people and wanted some treats. Maybe because of wintry weather people haven't been going down to the duck pond to feed the birds, so he thought he'd come to the people.

Lana, I think you hit the nail on the head. He might have been weak from lack of food and that's why he kept sitting down.

I didn't see what happened to him, but he was not there today.
