Dr. Samuel Stanley has been named the new president of Stony Brook University. He takes office July 1st. Very impressive CV. Seems quite down to earth and with a lovely family, too.

What an event for your university! Dr. Stanley does look like a very pleasant person - he also looks quite young.
During the 20 years that I worked at UTMB in Galveston, there were 2 new presidents - always an important time for the higher ups in the University. There was never much change in the computer department where I worked.
Does Stony Brook provide a home for the new president and his family?
Yes, housing is provided.
I went to the inauguration for the present President, Shirley Strum Kenney about 15 years ago. What a shindig. She has made the campus a really beautiful place. Wish it had looked so good when I worked there years ago.
